The process specializes in thin-walled deep drawing, and can handle drawing depths of up to 37 times the outer diameter. We are also aggressively taking up the challenge of processing new materials, including brass, red copper, phosphorous deoxidized copper, tough pitch copper, beryllium copper, phosphor bronze, nickel-nickel, iron (SPCE, SPCC), stainless steel (SUS), plated steel plates, aluminum, nickel, and cladding. Today, we manufacture components in a wide range of industries, including the medical industry, telecommunications equipment, automobiles, and audio-related industries.

With Advanex

Products previously believed to be only machinable by cutting and pipe machining can also be commercialized by transfer machining and press machining. For example, we switched to transfer machining for products that had been machined, resulting in a four-fold increase in productivity and a substantial reduction in costs.

Compression Springs

Features

This spring uses the repulsive force from compression against its tendency to return to its resting state. It is the most commonly used among coil springs. The basic shape is a cylinder in which the material is wound in a spiral; however, the coil diameter may be shaped like an envelope or a barrel in order to change its load characteristics. To increase the verticality of the springs, there is also a terminal treatment to suit the application, such as polishing both ends or releasing the terminals outward or inward.

Technical introduction

Advanex’s processing technology is also spreading into the micro area. We have achieved world class processing for items such as coil springs with wire diameters of 0.03mm and an inner diameter of 0.09mm, as well as tapered springs and torsion springs that cannot be discerned by the naked eye. The average thickness of Japanese hair is 0.08mm as compared with the 0.015mm diameter of the “ultra-small spring” wire in the photograph. Although not visible to the naked eye, it has a clear “spring” shape. It is mainly used in semiconductor inspection equipment and contact probes.

Exension Springs

Features

Among coil springs, exension springs are widely used with compression springs. They are used in applications in which a load in the tensile direction, against a compression spring. The initial tension is effectively utilized, and it is generally made into close contact winding in order to reduce the space. Hooks for receiving loads are usually raised at both ends, but their shapes are designed in a variety of ways depending on the application.

Advanex uses a mechanical processing machine and an NC multi-forming machine separately for hook shapes that are designed according to the application, including solutions for stress relaxation, to meet the requested shape.

Basic policy

ADVANEX’s basic policy for quality assurance is, “all quality improvements follow sound management.” By supplying reliable products, we provide assurance to all.

Organizational structure

The seven sections responsible for quality control and quality assurance, including the quality control sections for each of our domestic factories (Niigata Plant, Aomori Plant, Oita Plant, Chiba Plant, and Saitama Plant), the purchasing quality control section for product purchases of the Kyoei Company and the section managing quality at overseas bases, are under the umbrella classification of the Quality Assurance Department.

Inspection system

To assure quality, we have implemented thorough inspection systems in line with the manufacturing process, including initial inspections, setup confirmations, in-line inspections and shipping inspections, and have devised ways to prevent defective products from ascending to the next stage.
In the unlikely event of a customer complaint, we immediately investigate the defect and forward the response to the customer. We prevent recurrences by creating and sharing a database of defects.

Inspection equipment

We have all the inspection facilities in place to ensure that customers can use our products with confidence, including load testers, torque testers, hardness meters, projectors, lightmatics, measuring microscopes, 3-D measuring instruments, and no-contact image dimension measuring instruments, which all analyze precision components—especially for springs.

Status of External Certification Acquisition

In 1995, the Niigata Plant became the first company in the industry to receive certification ISO9001 for its quality control management system. It later received certification ISO14001 for its environmental management system in 2000.
