Basic Philosophy

ADVANEX INC. recognizes the preservation and conservation of the environment as one of the most important issues facing mankind and strives to conserve and improve the environment throughout all aspects of its corporate activities. Thinking outside conventional corporate boundaries, the company also encourages environmentally friendly activities within the home and in the local community.

Basic Policy

1. An organizational structure enabling the activities of all staff to be linked so as to further drive preservation of the environment.
2. Work to continuously improve activities to preserve the environment by obtaining an accurate understanding of how corporate activities impact the environment and then establishing technically and economically attainable environment objectives and targets.
3. Strictly abide by laws and ordinances concerning the environment, understand the philosophy behind such rules, and establish autonomous guidelines in an effort to achieve an even higher level of environmental preservation.
4. All areas of corporate activity are to be engaged in conserving natural resources and energy, as well as recycling and reducing waste.
5. Wherever and whenever possible, the company shall utilize alternative technology and recover, recycle, or reduce the use of hazardous substances and substances that destroy the ozone layer, contribute to global warming, and detrimentally impact the environment.
6. Contribute to society via social activities aimed at the environment.
7. Implement environmental audits and strive to improve environmental management.
8. Implement environmental education and in-house publicity activities to further our employees’ understanding of the company’s Basic Environmental Policy and further promote overall awareness toward the environment.
9. To work on environmental substance investigation (hazardous substances and conflict minerals) diligently and to comply environmental regulation.

株式会社アドバネクス（以下「当社」という）は、情報の価値を尊重し、常に情報の管理と保護の徹底に努めております。個人番号及び特定個人情報（以下「特定個人情報等」という）についても、その適正な取り扱いの確保について組織的に取り組むことから、以下のとおり基本方針を策定します。

About Advanex

1. What company is Advanex?

Advanex is the manufacturer of precision metal processing, including springs. We manufacture not only Springs, but also metal products with various shapes and functions.

2. Where are Advanex’s products used?

Advanex’s specialty is small and precise metal parts. Our products are used in everything from ballpoint pens to space stations. We believe that many Advanex products are used in smartphones, tablet PCs, personal computers, digital cameras and other digital devices in your home, home appliances such as vacuum cleaners and electric toothbrushes, and automobiles.

3. What is the origin of Advanex?

We have called it “ADVANEX” by multiplying “ADVANCE” and “NEXT” (moving forward and developing) with the conviction that we will move forward without being satisfied with the current situation. (The company name up to 2001 was Kato Spring Works Co., Ltd.)

4. What is Advanex’s position in the spring industry?

There are hundreds of spring manufacturers in Japan, of which five are major manufacturers. Advanex is one of the five largest companies, specializing in the precision field and expanding overseas.

Strong Point

1. Ability to capture the top share

Advanex has produced a number of products with top market shares. The Company’s first market share in the scales spring market was 90% in Japan. In addition, 70% of the Company’s tape pads for audio tapes in Japan, 50% of the company’s leaf spring for video tapes, 80% of the global market for shutters for 3.5-inch floppy disks, 90% of the Company’s center hub for optical disks, and 50% of the global market for hinges for mobile phones, all of which are the leading players in the era. Even today, we have a 60% share of the domestic market for indwelling needle springs for intravenous drips and other applications, and we expect to capture the top share of the global market for lead frames for power control units for next-generation automobiles and shift by-wire applications in the near future. The reason we are able to capture the top share is that we have development capabilities that meet any customer requirement and a global system that can be supplied from all over the world.

2. Skill of master

Metal precision processing can be manufactured up to a certain level, but achieving a level of differentiation requires many years of experience and accumulated sensibilities, or craftsmanship. Advanex has many craftsmanship “designs” and is a source of added value. Advanex also maintains an advantage by nurturing the next generation of craftspersons through programs such as training centers, certification systems, and craft schools. Unlike other industries, where software, SNS, digital devices, and other products have been replaced easily, the basic processing technology of precision metal processing remains unchanged even half a century ago. This is one of the factors behind the growth of craftsmanship.

3. Ability to make proposals

Advanex not only responds to customer needs, but also offers proprietary improvement proposals to improve the performance of customers’ manufacturing processes and final products. We believe that our strengths and added value lie in our ability to think about issues together with our customers and solve them together. Advanex possesses a wide range of processing techniques, including multi-forming, inserting molding, and deep drawing, in addition to conventional spring processing methods such as coiling and press. Advanex therefore can propose the most appropriate processing methods. In addition, after clarifying the rationale, we propose better designs for shape and dimensions.

4. Global network

Advanex has 15 overseas factories in 11 countries, making it the largest manufacturer of springs and precision metals. Advanex can supply products of the same quality from 11 countries around the world, which is highly valued in the increasingly globalized automotive and medical industries. At the same time, many of our overseas bases are operated by local staff and are highly autonomous, so we conduct sales activities that are closely linked to local needs.
